Cookies & browser storage

The editorial pages and brief-sheet tool are designed to work without advertising trackers or persistent storage of your working notes.

What cookies and local storage do

Cookies are small values a website can ask a browser to retain and return with later requests. Local storage is a separate browser feature that can retain values for a website between visits. Depending on their purpose and the applicable rules, using these technologies may require consent.

Storage used by the site’s own code

The supplied editorial code does not set cookies or write to localStorage or sessionStorage. Navigation state, scroll-reveal state and brief-sheet text are held only in the current page’s memory. There are no analytics, advertising or social-media tracking scripts in the editorial code, and no embedded third-party players.

Browser and delivery features

Your browser may cache site resources, offer autofill, retain download history or restore a previous session. These are browser functions rather than a brief-sheet saving service. Hosting or security infrastructure may handle technical information needed to deliver and protect the site; see our Privacy policy for the distinction between technical processing and the local tool.

If a separate privacy-preference control is displayed by the website’s delivery system, use that control to review any categories it describes. Optional tracking should remain disabled unless valid consent has been given where consent is required. The local brief tool does not require optional tracking.

Your controls

You can inspect and clear cookies or site storage through your browser’s privacy settings. You can also manage clipboard permissions, delete downloaded files and turn off autofill or session restoration. Clearing site storage does not automatically delete text already copied to your clipboard, files you downloaded or messages you sent separately.

External source links lead to other websites, which may use their own cookies and storage. Their policies apply once you visit them; merely displaying a text link here does not load an embedded service from that destination.
